Aqeel Yaseen

The last 15 years the practice of yoga and mindfulness have helped me work with the rich fertilizer of grief, anger, sadness, depression, boredom, and all the other 10.000 joys and sorrows of being human. In teaching thousands of classes, several retreats, working with children, teens, and adults of all abilities, what I have learned is that cultivating compassion, and opening to the myriad of relationships that come and go in life is the most powerful salve for the wounds of our world. Tenderness towards our own vulnerability and mortality reminds us that we are all equal participants in our shared short visit to this world. I feel a great sense of joy in watching others explore and recognize the depth of their own inner wisdom.

Mike Armstrong

Mike was an elementary school teacher when he launched his career in New Jersey. When his students began to present emotional and behavioral issues that could not be addressed in the classroom, he went back and got his masters degree in school counseling. As a crisis counselor he spent a fulfilling career helping young adults navigate dysfunctional home environments, substance addiction, depression and suicidal ideation. He retired after serving his community for 35 years. Shortly after retiring he and his bride, Claire, moved to New Hampshire to help her parents navigate the final years of their meaningful lives. Mike and Claire have been married for nearly 40 years and that bond continues to grow and expand. With some extra time on his hands Mike began to explore creative ways to be of service to his community. In 2019 he launched choose2advance, a not for profit organization that provides “free” room and board for young professionals as they launch their careers (and have no money). In 2020 he was introduced to the Journeymen community and its important mission. He has been active in helping to grow this community ever since. The Armstrongs recently moved to Denver Colorado to be in community with their adult children and grandchildren. When not in service to their family and community Mike and Claire, ski, XC ski, snowboard, hike, bike, kayak, camp, rock climb and trail run …. Let’s Go!
